She chuckled. “Come on. I’ll make you some tea. You’ll

see—it’ll help.”

Jack nodded and followed her—anything to make him stop

feeling like such a moron. He’d never had a sister, but if he did, he would want her to be just like Claudia. Though he didn’t voice his thoughts, he sat on the stool and watched her make his tea.

When she placed it before him, he sniffed and smiled.

“Peppermint.”

“It cures anything that ails your heart, I think.”
